Friends,

Last Tuesday, as the early returns came rolling in and a terrorized nation's habitual anxiety and pessimism began to give way to an overwhelming sense of relief (just as the feeling returns by tingling degrees to digits bitten hard by the pitiless frost), the genuine sense of elation and hopefulness at the promise of President-elect Obama's victory in the presidential election of 2008 that was felt around the nation was tempered for us here at Tyranny Belle World Headquarters by the hard reality of the imminent departure of one of our nearest and dearest.

As most of you know by now, Rusty Pipes bassist Artie Jordan has picked up and left our Windy City. Having raised his voice against the belligerent autodidacticism of an outspoken cadre of covetous and dissembling free market fundamentalists, the hateful jingoism and childish hypocrisies of a thronging clutch of slack-jawed, hemophiliac Creationists and the shortsighted, abortive calls to rape and pillage the American frontier that came from a manic, fulminating corps of pro-corporate hucksters shilling increasingly desperately on behalf of the plutocrats whose record profits this year came at the direct expense of the literal and metaphorical Salt of the Earth, Artie's valiant campaign on behalf of Barack Obama has finally come to an end.

But this ending is actually the dawn of a new day for Artie and for many of those other bright-eyed young campaigners who stood in the long, pitchy shadow of the GOP and valiantly fought that glowering /Beast that Was/ to a standstill and, ultimately, the abysmal defeat they deserved. Today, Artie and the rest of those brave fighters are relocating to the ugly side of the Potomac where they will regroup, reorganize and take the fight directly to the chambers of power in Washington DC: with Artie's help, the Obama camp will continue throwing devastating hay-makers for economic justice, bone-crushing body-blows for civil liberties and neck-snapping uppercuts for social progress.

So join Tyranny Belle as we send Artie Jordan to Washington the only way we know how: by embarrassing ourselves on his behalf as publicly as we know how.

Friends,

I stand before you today bearing the heavy burden of embarrassment and shame.

Actually, I don't stand: I /prostrate/ myself before you and humbly beg your mercy and forgiveness: Davey had this music in my hands days before Halloween weekend and, predictably enough, I completely screwed the pooch in spite of everyone else's hard work and good intentions and failed to even do so much as upload it.

But, as I am saying, I have come before you today to make amends. Please accept this completely weird and creepy yet oddly compelling and unsettlingly mellow Cramps cover from Davey on my behalf with my apologies and deep regret.

Not regret about the song. Regret about fucking the delivery of the song into a cocked hat.

Endlessly self-effacing,

Hola, friends: this is Tim.

Tyranny Belle is scaling back the size of this year's Halloween celebrations on account the liquidity crisis (everyone's feeling the pinch), but Halloween is by no means canceled: witness Benny and the Been Downs' cover of Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs.

There may or may not be further Halloween tracks released. These releases may or may not occur later this week.

Halloween is a time of great uncertainty, doubt and fear.

Yours,

Hola, gang: Tim here with another double feature.

As Bamford suggested last week, we're going to start rolling out the media from the final Rusty Pipes show (i.e. 2008-10-12). Today's tracks, recorded during the second set, are classic Pipes: "Satan is a Fish" and "Food Around the Corner" both originally appeared on 2005's "City of Chicago" EP.

Without putting too fine a point on it, let's just say that you're in for a treat: this recording of "Satan is a Fish" features a downright remarkable amount of audience participation and the "Food Around the Corner" MP3 that we're putting out today is, at least until the reunion tour, the last song Rusty Pipes ever played.

Yours,

Howdy kiddos, long time no type. We've got a sample of Sunday night's fare-thee-well Rusty Pipes extravaganza but let me tell ya: if you missed it, you seriously missed out. I'm still recovering…

Although I refuse to say goodbye to the fellas: Artie, Benny, Brian, Davey and Nick—Sunday's performance was the last you and I'll get from them together as Rusty Pipes. So let me say on behalf of at least myself a sincere thank you for the great songs and more importantly for many, many damn good times. You're already missed.

The track is a Misfits' cover you non-Misfits fans may recognize by the "I ain't no god-damned son-of-a-bitch!" chorus. We'll see if we can't pull a few more from the recording of this show in the weeks ahead. Until then, if you haven't got the new RP album yet get on it!

Love and Respect,

If you know Rusty Pipes you know they're funny dudes. After a few (dozen) spit takes Tim—producer extraordinaire of Pipes forthcoming album—had the good sense to start cut and pasting outtakes from the sessions onto a gag reel track.

In case you missed it, TBSS had a similar bloopers track on New Year's Day 2008 from our X-Mas EP sessions. That one is in the archives, and on par for the number of instances of our favorite four-letter words with "Casino" (422) and "The Big Lebowski" (281).

And finally, the long-awaited details for the album release show:

Event: Rusty Pipes "5th of July" Album Release Party and "Preview of Dog and Pony's "The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler""
*Viaduct Theatre. 3111 N. Western Ave.*
Doors at 8PM; RP at 10:30
Tickets for the play are pay-what-you-can. Entrance to the show is TBD but free with admission to the play.
